Details of Call for Abstracts
A presentation of a paper by single or joint authors. Abstracts should outline the aims, contents and conclusions of their paper or presentation. Final papers will be published as part of the Conference Proceedings.
General Guidelines for Abstract Submissions
All abstracts MUST be submitted via the website using the template provided.

- An abstract of a maximum of 350 words should be submitted.
- Include the names of all authors.
- Responsibility for the accuracy of abstracts rests with the author.
- Successful presenting authors need to register for the Conference.
- Where there are co-authors, only one abstract is to be submitted. The presenting author is responsible for ensuring the co-authors agree with and are aware of the content before submitting the abstract.
- An abstract which does not adhere to these requirements is unlikely to be accepted.
- The closing date for abstracts is 1 October 2008 (TBC)
Submission Process
- All abstracts will go through the following process:
- An email confirmation of receipt of abstracts will be sent.
- All abstracts will be reviewed by a Panel from the Organising Committee.
- Acceptance of abstracts will be based on relative merit and the degree to which the abstract meets the aims of the Conference.
- All confirmed abstracts for papers and posters will be published in the Conference Proceedings. Full papers will be published post conference on a CD-Rom.
- Authors of abstracts must be registered for the Conference when confirming their acceptance.
- Where a paper is written by joint authors, at least one author is required to register.
- The Committee's decision is final and no communication will be entered in to.
Poster Abstracts
Posters selected for presentation at Trauma Melbourne 2008 will be displayed during conference hours. The Posters will be integrated into the busy catering, internet cafe and lounge areas to ensure delegates have the opportunity to examine them at leisure. Presenters will be given a 5 min opportunity to give an oral presentation about their poster.
Review Process
You will receive notification of your abstract results via email.
If you have not received notification of your abstract results by 15 October 2008, please contact the Conference Secretariat, National Trauma Research Institute at enquiries@traumamelbourne.com.au.
If successful, you will be required to confirm your acceptance of the invitation, confirm the name of the presenter and register the presenter to attend the Conference. Further instructions on presentation requirements will be provided in the notification letter and in additional correspondence. Instructions for the preparation of posters will be sent together with notification of acceptance.
(Please note: All correspondence will be forwarded by email to one contact only. Unless otherwise notified, the Conference Office will assume that the name the submission was uploaded under is the name of the presenter.)

The invitation to submit an abstract does not constitute an offer to pay travel, accommodation or registration costs associated with the Conference. Similarly, no speaker's fee is paid to successful applicants.
By submitting this abstract you confirm that it has not been published or presented previously. You also grant the Organising Committee permission to publish the abstract and paper in the Conference Handbook in hard copy and electronic format.
If you do not wish to do this but still wish to submit please contact National Trauma Research Institute to discuss. The Organising Committee's decision on acceptance of the abstract will be final.
